Travel to Romania

Bucharest International Airport - OTOPENI (http://www.otp-airport.ro/), located at about 400 km far from Iasi, is connected by direct flights with the most of the important cities in Europe. The important international airlines (AIR FRANCE, LUFTHANSA, KLM, AUSTRIAN AIRLINES, BRITISH AIRWAYS, ALITALIA etc.) operate 2-3 flights per day to Bucharest. Romanian Airline Company - TAROM (http://www.tarom.ro) operates also direct flights all over Europe as well as to New York.

If you plan to attend the SMM16 Conference in Düsseldorf, held just before ANMM 2003 Workshop, you could take one of the direct flights operated every day by LUFTHANSA or TAROM from Frankfurt to Bucharest-Otopeni International Airport. Other flight operators, including LUFTHANSA, have also good connections from Düsseldorf to Bucharest. It will be better if you could arrive in Bucharest on Friday, 12th of September, or on Saturday, 13th of September. Please consider that it is convenient (it could be significantly cheaper) to split the travel ticket into two parts, e.g. instead of buying one ticket NY - Frankfurt – Bucharest - NY, to buy 2 tickets: NY-Frankfurt-NY + Frankfurt-Bucharest-Frankfurt.

Travel to Iasi

There are a few possibilities to travel from Bucharest (Bucuresti) to Iasi.

By plane

If you will arrive in Bucharest on Friday, 12th of September, you can take the direct TAROM (http://www.tarom.ro) flight from Otopeni International Airport to Iasi. The flight departs 9:15 AM from Bucharest and arrives in Iasi at 10:20 AM.

There is a second flight from Bucharest Baneasa Airport (the second airport in Bucharest, which is located at about 15-20 km far from Otopeni) to Iasi operated by Angels Airlines (http://www.angelairlines.ro/), which leaves Bucharest at 6:30 PM and arrives in Iasi at 7:30 PM. If this flight is much more convenient for you please let us know and we will arrange the transfer from one airport to the other one.

Saturday, 13th of September, there are no flights to Iasi.

If you plan to arrive in Bucharest on Sunday, September 14, you will have a direct flight from Bucharest-Otopeni international airport at 8:00 PM, which arrives in Iasi at 9:05 PM. One of our collaborators will pick you up from the airport and escort you to the hotel, thus you will have time to enjoy the last part of the Welcome Cocktail.

By train

There are a few IC trains from Bucharest Central Station (Bucuresti Nord Gr.A to Iasi):

http://www.cfr.ro/default_engleza.htm

The most appropriate (IC 567) departs from Bucharest at 5:43 PM and arrives in Iasi at 11:30 PM. We can arrange the transfer by taxi from Otopeni Airport to Bucharest Central Station.

By bus

We plan to arrange the travel from Bucharest to Iasi by bus on Saturday, 13th of September, for all participants arriving in Bucharest not very late in the afternoon.

Travel back to Bucharest

To go back to Bucharest you have two direct flights from Iasi to the Bucharest-Otopeni International Airport on Friday and Monday, 19th and 21st of September, respectively. IC trains are also available every day (http://www.cfr.ro/default_engleza.htm).
