Project Summary

In the frame of this project, the study of the magnetic and dielectric losses through which the absorption of the microwave electromagnetic field in amorphous magnetic glass-coated microwires based on CoFe-based alloys, coated by RF sputtering deposition and subsequently by electrochemical deposition, with a metallic layer will be performed. It is expected that this multilayer structure will determine an increase in the selective absorption capability of the microwaves in certain frequency bands with the possibility of controlling their width in the 1 GHz-18 GHz frequency range by controlling the geometry of the microwire-glass-metal structure and of its distribution in the microwave field. The influence of the geometrical characteristics (thickness of the metallic layer, magnetic core thickness, microwires length) and of the internal magnetic anisotropy of the multilayered microwires structures on the value of magnetic permeability and dielectric permittivity will be theoretically and experimentally studied. The influence of the ferromagnetic resonance frequency of the multilayer microwires structure on the absorption frequency of the electromagnetic field and the influence of the internal anisotropy of multilayer microwires on the selective absorption in the incident microwave field in the 1 GHz-18 GHz frequency range will be studied as well. A new material based on multilayer microwires will be developed for the selective shielding of the microwave fields.
