ULTRAMICROTOME POWERTOME PT - XL is a tool used to cut extremely thin slices of material such as sections. Microtome is used in microscopy for the preparation of samples for observation under transmitted light or electron beam. ULTRAMICROTOME PT-XL consists of three main parts: Base (microtome body); Knife attachment and Knife; Material holder. The microtome uses glass or diamond blades/knives depending upon the specimen being sliced and the desired thickness of the sections being cut. Glass knives are used to slice sections for light microscopy and to slice thin sections for electron microscopy. UltraDiamond Knives (ultra 35° and ultra 45°) are used for sectioning relatively soft materials (metals and hard specimens such as semiconductors, ceramics) and for routine sectioning of biological specimens, respectively.
Technical specifications:
- Auto-thin sectioning from 5 nm
- Auto-thick sectioning to 10 microns
